Atlantic City made history with the launch of its first-ever Black Business Expo, a dynamic celebration of entrepreneurship and community collaboration.

The City of Atlantic City's Economic Development division offered a free marketing seminar to local entrepreneurs.

Tony Boloney’s Atlantic City and Mad Mutz Laboratory were honored with the Innovation Award during the city’s Keep It Local campaign. Mayor Marty Small Sr. recognized the businesses for their creativity, entrepreneurship, and global impact, celebrating how their mozzarella creations transformed a local eatery into an international brand.

In the New York Daily News op-ed, Mayor Marty Small Sr. draws on more than four decades of Atlantic City’s experience with gaming to send New York a clear message: if casinos are coming, they must be built to serve the people who live there, not just the developers. Reflecting on both the promises and pitfalls of Atlantic City’s own history, Mayor Small urges New York to pair gaming with long-term investments in housing, infrastructure, small businesses, and community programs — the kind of strategies that have fueled Atlantic City’s recent resurgence.

Funded by federal, state, and city dollars, the two-year project will transform the roadway from Tennessee to Albany Avenues with safety, traffic, and streetscape upgrades.

Atlantic City will host its first-ever Black Business Expo on Tuesday, August 26, at the All Wars Memorial Building, celebrating entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, and the city’s rich legacy of Black-owned businesses. The free event features a vendor marketplace, live radio broadcast, panel discussions, and the launch of a $500,000 Micro-Business Grant Program for minority, women, and veteran-owned startups.

The City of Atlantic City has secured an additional $750,000 African American Civil Rights Grant to preserve the interior of the 103-year-old Fire Station 2, just as exterior restoration nears completion. This funding builds on previous efforts to protect and restore the historic site’s structural integrity and cultural significance.
