The City of Atlantic City Multicultural Services recently visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir – Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey. Known as the Cultural Jewel of India, the mandir offered residents a unique and unforgettable journey into traditional Indian art, architecture, and spirituality.
The visit highlighted the stunning craftsmanship of the mandir, which features intricate hand-carved stonework and traditional design elements. Participants were guided through the site, where they learned about the construction process and the cultural and spiritual significance behind every detail.
The group had the opportunity to reflect in the mandir’s serene and peaceful environment, making the visit not only educational but also deeply calming and introspective.
Beyond its architectural beauty, the mandir serves as a vibrant community hub, offering programs and initiatives that promote service, unity, and cultural understanding. These values align closely with the mission of Atlantic City’s Multicultural Services to foster inclusion and respect across diverse communities.
The outing provided a meaningful opportunity for residents to connect with traditions outside their own and to deepen their appreciation for the richness of global cultures.
It also reinforced the importance of cultural exploration as a path toward greater empathy, awareness, and peaceful coexistence in our increasingly interconnected world.
Participants shared their reflections and expressed gratitude for the chance to experience such a powerful example of living tradition and artistry.
The trip served as a reminder of the beauty and value found in engaging with different cultures, and how such experiences can broaden perspectives and strengthen community bonds.
The City of Atlantic City thanked everyone who joined the outing and looks forward to organizing more cultural visits that inspire learning, connection, and mutual respect.
