Atlantic City is continuing to invest in the safety of its residents and visitors with the addition of a state-of-the-art Mobile Command Post that will enhance emergency response, improve coordination during major events, and provide first responders with the technology they need to protect the community.
The Atlantic City Police Department recently unveiled Megatron, a new Mobile Command Post that will serve as a centralized operations hub during large public events, emergencies, natural disasters, and critical incidents. The vehicle represents a $1.6 million investment in public safety and was funded entirely through Atlantic City's $2 hotel occupancy fee, meaning no local taxpayer dollars were used to purchase it.
For a destination city that welcomes millions of visitors each year while serving tens of thousands of residents every day, having advanced public safety resources is essential. Megatron allows police to improve communication, coordination, and decision-making when it matters most.
Whether deployed during concerts, festivals, parades, the Atlantic City Air Show, or emergency situations, the Mobile Command Post gives first responders a fully functional headquarters in the field, allowing them to monitor conditions, share information in real time, and quickly coordinate response efforts.

Inside, Megatron is equipped with meeting and briefing areas, multiple workstations, large display monitors, communications equipment, internet connectivity, and onboard power generation, allowing it to operate independently for extended periods. The vehicle also includes climate-controlled workspaces, exterior workstations, emergency lighting, and onboard restroom facilities, ensuring personnel can remain on scene and fully operational during lengthy incidents.
The Mobile Command Post is the latest addition to Atlantic City's growing portfolio of public safety technology.
The Atlantic City Police Department is also expanding its use of drones, as the city's network of surveillance cameras continues to grow, giving officers additional tools to monitor activity, assist investigations, and respond more quickly when incidents occur.

Mayor Marty Small, Sr. has consistently made public safety one of his administration's top priorities, recognizing that safe neighborhoods and well-protected public spaces are critical to Atlantic City's continued growth.
Megatron is another investment in Atlantic City's future, providing first responders with the tools they need to keep residents safe, protect visitors, and support a city that continues to grow as a premier place to live, work, and invest.
