Mayor Marty Small, Sr. announced that the long-running beach bar once known as Chelsea Beach Bar—most recently operating as Cocorico Beach Bar and Goldfish Beach Bar—will relocate to a new home before the 2026 summer season.
The bar will move to the beach between Bellevue and Georgia Avenues, just steps from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
The decision, made jointly by the City of Atlantic City and the bar’s owners and approved by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), reflects a thoughtful approach to growth:
Mayor Small emphasized the balance behind the move:
“This is the best move for all parties. The beach bar will continue to add to Atlantic City’s entertainment scene, while nearby residents can enjoy more peace in front of their homes.”
The relocation has the support of the DCA, the City’s Business Administrator and Solicitor’s Office, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The plan will now head to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) for final land-use approval.
This move highlights Atlantic City’s commitment to smart shoreline development—one that supports local business while safeguarding neighborhood quality of life.
It’s another example of how the city is shaping a dynamic, welcoming beachfront for residents and visitors alike.
