Mayor Marty Small, Sr. and the “Mayor Marty Small, Sr. Scholarship” committee announced exciting new details for the third year of the program, providing 100 scholarships worth up to $10,000 each to eligible Atlantic City residents.
First introduced in 2023, the “Mayor Marty Small, Sr. Scholarship” represented a three-year commitment of up to $3 million — with $1 million awarded each year. In the first two years, eligibility was limited to Atlantic City residents who recently graduated from Atlantic City High School (ACHS) or were current college students who previously graduated from ACHS. This year, eligibility expanded to include residents who will graduate this spring or previously graduated from ACHS or another school accepting Atlantic City students. The scholarships supported graduating high school seniors accepted to accredited higher educational institutions, current college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, graduate and doctoral students, and prospective trade school students.
Scholarship recipients received half of the funds for the fall 2025 semester and the remaining half for the spring 2026 semester. The selection process was conducted by a committee of city employees and community members, excluding Mayor Small from the decision-making process. Students who previously applied and continued to meet the eligibility criteria were encouraged to reapply. Funding for the $3 million scholarship came from the Addressing Educational Disparity category of American Rescue Plan funds allocated to Atlantic City.
Completed applications were due by 4:00 PM EST on Monday, April 7, 2025.
