The Atlantic City Experience unveiled its newest exhibit, Latin Rhythms by the Sea, offering the public an immersive look into the vibrant history of Latin music and its influence on Atlantic City’s entertainment scene. The exhibit, which was officially placed on display by the Atlantic City Free Public Library, celebrated the performers who once filled the city’s venues with rhythm, energy, and cultural pride.

Showcasing an impressive array of photographs, stories, and memorabilia, the exhibit highlighted the achievements of legendary Latin artists such as Miguelito Valdés, Xavier Cugat, and Tito Puente. These iconic performers drew enormous crowds, inspiring audiences to rise from their seats and dance along to the infectious beat of their bands. Their contributions played a significant role in shaping Atlantic City’s musical identity throughout the mid-20th century.

Through detailed displays and authentic archival material, Latin Rhythms by the Sea illustrated how these artists bridged cultures and brought people together through music. Their performances not only entertained but also fostered a deeper appreciation of Latin heritage within the community. By placing these stories at the forefront, the Atlantic City Experience underscored the city’s longstanding connection to diverse artistic traditions.

The exhibit was developed as a special project of the Foundation of the Atlantic City Free Public Library, reflecting the library’s ongoing commitment to preserving and celebrating the city’s cultural history. As part of its mission, the library aimed to create opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with Atlantic City’s rich archival legacy.

Presented by the Atlantic City Free Public Library, the Atlantic City Experience was housed inside the lobby of Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, where the exhibit remained open to the public. Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the installation offered free admission, ensuring accessible learning for all who wished to explore the stories of these musical pioneers.

Through Latin Rhythms by the Sea, Atlantic City honored the artistry, passion, and legacy of the Latin performers who helped define its cultural landscape. Their music left an indelible mark on the city, and this exhibit served as a tribute to the rhythms that once echoed along its shores.
