ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Investor confidence in Atlantic City continues to make headlines with the purchase of the former Trump Plaza site by businessman George Norcross, his family and partners. The acquisition adds to the momentum behind the city’s development renaissance, reinforcing the potential of its prime real estate and the opportunities attracting investment to Atlantic City.
Mayor Marty Small, Sr. welcomed the investment, pointing to the Norcross team’s existing business ties to Atlantic City through Formica Bakery and expressing confidence in the city’s ability to attract investors who recognize its long-term potential.
“When successful business leaders like Mr. Norcross choose Atlantic City, it sends a strong message and helps attract additional investors who recognize the opportunities here,” Mayor Small said.
Situated along the Boardwalk in the heart of the city, the former Trump Plaza property is one of Atlantic City’s most prominent development sites. Since the casino was demolished in 2021, the oceanfront parcel has represented a significant opportunity to reimagine a highly visible stretch of the city’s tourism and entertainment corridor. While additional casinos will not be permitted, the site offers considerable potential for other forms of development. The Norcross team’s plans have not yet been publicly detailed.
The purchase comes amid a period of development activity across Atlantic City, with investment spanning residential construction, infrastructure improvements, commercial projects and neighborhood revitalization. More than $250 million in infrastructure investment was highlighted in Mayor Small’s 2026 State of the City address, alongside initiatives intended to strengthen the city’s foundation for future growth.
For Mayor Small, the former Trump Plaza purchase is another opportunity to build on that momentum. He said the City looks forward to working with the Norcross team, alongside state and county partners, as plans for the property take shape.
