The Atlantic City Aquarium has expanded its educational offerings with the opening of a newly developed third-floor environmental education space, created by the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) and its Roadway Environmental Advancement Initiative (READI) team.

The new exhibit reflects a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, conservation, and hands-on learning, while reinforcing the aquarium’s role as a key educational and community asset in Atlantic City.

Designed as an interactive, family-friendly learning environment, the space features exhibits highlighting local ecosystems, native plant species, pollinator-friendly habitats, and wildlife support initiatives such as bird and bat box programs. These displays help illustrate how natural habitat features strengthen biodiversity and support healthy ecosystems throughout the South Jersey region.

The space is intended as an immersive educational experience that connects visitors directly to environmental concepts in a meaningful way. Students, families, and visitors of all ages are encouraged to explore how conservation begins at the local level and how everyday actions can contribute to long-term environmental health.

City officials emphasize that projects like this represent a broader investment in the community. By enhancing educational infrastructure within public attractions like the Aquarium, Atlantic City continues to create opportunities for learning, engagement, and enrichment that benefit both residents and visitors.

The partnership with SJTA was instrumental in bringing the project to life, combining expertise in environmental planning and sustainability with a shared vision for public education and responsible stewardship. This collaboration highlights the value of interagency partnerships that maximize resources while delivering meaningful community impact.

The new environmental education space is now open to the public at the Atlantic City Aquarium.
