Clean Atlantic City Neighborhoods, Engaged Residents

One of the many benefits of living in Atlantic City is having a city government that prioritizes neighborhood quality of life.

That commitment is evident in the city's Clean Communities initiative, a citywide effort launched each summer focused on keeping Atlantic City’s neighborhoods clean, attractive and welcoming.

But the 2026 initiative goes beyond cleanup efforts. City officials are placing a renewed emphasis on resident involvement, recognizing that maintaining beautiful neighborhoods is a shared responsibility and one that can strengthen community pride throughout Atlantic City's six wards.

The city is even launching a new Property Recognition Rewards program aimed at celebrating residents who take pride in maintaining their homes and properties. Led by Clean Communities Coordinator Angela Pittman, the initiative will recognize standout properties throughout each ward during the summer months. Residents do not need to register or apply. Instead, the Clean Communities team will identify properties that demonstrate exceptional upkeep and community pride, rewarding owners with special surprises throughout the season.

The 2026 program also introduces a new Mobile Recycling Program designed to make it easier than ever for residents to properly dispose of additional household items. Residents can now place eligible recyclable materials, including electronics, yard waste and scrap metal, at the curb on their regularly scheduled trash collection days.To support the program, the Department of Public Works has dedicated a specialized collection vehicle that will travel throughout the city on collection days. Residents may also continue utilizing the Public Works Yard on North Albany Avenue for drop-off services.

The program reflects the administration's belief that positive reinforcement can help encourage neighborhood beautification while highlighting residents who are already setting a strong example for their neighbors. To make participation easy, the city is providing volunteers with free cleanup supplies, including trash bags, gloves, grabbers and safety vests. Supplies are available through the Clean Communities program at City Hall.
