The Atlantic City Recreation Department (AC Rec) successfully launched its new Pickleball Club, bringing fun, fitness, and friendly competition to the community.
Led by Mr. Bruce, the first session introduced participants to the exciting world of pickleball—a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. The kids learned the basics of the sport, including how to serve, rally, and score, all while having a blast on the court.
Students in grades 3–8 participated in the youth session, which started at 5:00 PM, followed by an adult session at 6:30 PM. Both groups enjoyed an engaging and supportive environment that encouraged teamwork and active play.
The introduction of the club aimed to create a space where residents of all ages could come together, stay active, and learn something new. Many participants expressed their excitement at discovering a sport that’s both easy to learn and fun to play.
Pickleball has grown rapidly in popularity across the country, and AC Rec embraced the trend by offering regular weekly sessions for the Atlantic City community. The program reflects the department’s commitment to promoting healthy recreation and providing accessible activities for everyone.
The event also highlighted the importance of community engagement through sports, giving children and adults alike an opportunity to connect, move, and enjoy the thrill of friendly matches.
The positive response from the first session showed the enthusiasm of the participants, with many already looking forward to the next game.
By creating programs like the Pickleball Club, AC Rec continues to build a sense of community while encouraging residents to stay active and develop new skills.
This initiative served as a reminder that recreation is not just about exercise—it’s about bringing people together, fostering friendships, and creating memories.
