Atlantic City Public Schools elementary and middle school athletes recently wrapped up a successful fall sports season, showcasing growth, teamwork, and community spirit across the district. From soccer fields to cross-country courses, students gained valuable experience in sportsmanship, perseverance, and skill development.
Under the leadership of Jason Lantz, the district’s Extracurricular Elementary Athletics Teacher Coordinator, the fall sports programs emphasized participation, fun, and inclusion. “The focus is on making sure every child gets playing time, enjoys the experience, and has fun,” Lantz shared, highlighting the district’s commitment to creating positive and enriching athletic opportunities for all students.

Elementary students participated in Round Robin Play, where teams rotated through soccer matches that encouraged collaboration and camaraderie across schools. Every player had the chance to step onto the field and contribute, fostering not only physical fitness but also confidence and teamwork. The games led up to the district’s soccer tournament, which took place on October 25, 2025.
Matches were hosted at key locations, including Chelsea Heights Field and Pop Lloyd Stadium, providing young athletes with the excitement of playing in recognized community venues. Alongside soccer, students also took part in cross-country races, discovering endurance sports while strengthening school spirit. The season culminated with a district championship race on November 3, 2025, bringing together runners from across the city.
For middle school students, the travel teams added another layer of experience. Both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams took on schools from neighboring districts, including Galloway Middle School, testing their skills and teamwork in a more competitive setting. Meanwhile, the middle school cross-country teams began their season with a spirited meet against Bridgeton, racing along Albany Avenue and the Boardwalk.

Lantz explained that these extracurricular programs were designed to give students a platform to grow athletically and personally. “Our goal is to give student-athletes the chance to try new sports, gain experience, and make lasting connections with peers across the district,” he said.
Parents, teachers, and community members played an important role in the season’s success, turning out in support of young athletes at every event. Their encouragement helped create an atmosphere of unity and pride, reinforcing Atlantic City’s dedication to youth development through sports.
As the season concluded, it became clear that the fall sports programs were about more than just competition—they were about building confidence, fostering teamwork, and strengthening bonds within the Atlantic City Public Schools community.
