As weather conditions intensify along the coast, the City of Atlantic City has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of its residents and visitors. In a live interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Mayor Marty Small Sr. emphasized the city’s readiness and urged the public to follow official safety guidance during the storm.

“We’re Prepared”

Speaking to Blitzer, Mayor Small reassured the public: “We’re prepared.” His message underscored the city’s coordinated approach with emergency services, public works, and community partners to respond to the storm’s expected impact.

Moderate flooding is projected following the evening’s high tide, with the most flood-prone areas expected to be affected. Officials are preparing for road closures and lane reductions along Route 30 and Route 40, two key entryways into the city that are especially vulnerable during heavy flooding.

Free Parking Garage Access for Residents

To protect vehicles from potential flood damage, the city has opened the Wave Parking Garage, located at Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues, for free resident parking through 10:00 AM Friday. This precaution is part of a larger effort to minimize damage and keep residents safe during the storm’s duration.

Beaches Closed for Safety

In addition to roadway advisories, all Atlantic City beaches remain closed on Thursday to safeguard both residents and visitors from hazardous coastal conditions. High surf and dangerous rip currents make beach access unsafe until the storm passes.

A Unified Call for Safety

The city’s storm preparation plan highlights Atlantic City’s commitment to public safety, balancing caution with readiness. By communicating directly through national platforms like CNN, Mayor Small aimed to both reassure residents and draw attention to the importance of following official instructions.

“Preparedness is key,” the Mayor stressed, reminding residents that cooperation and quick action are vital in minimizing risks.

Staying Informed

The City of Atlantic City continues to monitor weather updates closely and will share new information as conditions develop. Residents are encouraged to follow official city communication channels and remain vigilant until the storm threat subsides.
