Atlantic City came together last week to support local students through multiple Back-to-School events, ensuring families had the supplies and encouragement needed for a successful start to the academic year.
The City of Atlantic City Multicultural Services, along with the Reentry Services division, the Anti-Violence Unit, and the Mayor’s Office, organized a special Back-to-School Drive-In Movie Night at Bader Field. Families gathered under the stars to enjoy a film, complete with popcorn and a festive atmosphere.
Mayor Marty Small Sr. attended the event, personally handing out backpacks, school supplies, and snacks to students and their families. His presence emphasized the city’s dedication to supporting education and community engagement.
The generosity did not stop at Bader Field. Mayor Small also joined the Atlantic City Police Department at another giveaway event, where additional school supplies and sweet treats were distributed to children.
This event was made possible through the generosity of Retired Officer Heidi Clayton, whose donations helped ensure even more students received the tools they needed to succeed in school.
The back-to-school celebrations highlighted the importance of community partnerships and the collective effort to provide children with opportunities to thrive both academically and socially.
Parents expressed their gratitude for the city’s commitment, noting that these events alleviated the financial stress of preparing for the school year while creating a sense of joy and excitement for students.
City officials emphasized that the events were more than just giveaways, they were about showing up for the community and reinforcing the message that every child deserves the resources and encouragement to succeed.
The Back-to-School events demonstrated the power of collaboration and the strong community spirit that continues to move Atlantic City forward.
