Atlantic City High School successfully wrapped up its Thanksgiving in a Bag project, a heartfelt community effort led by the Atlantic City High School (Hope4AC) program and the Dual Credit Service Learning Class. This initiative brought together students, staff, community donors, and local organizations with one shared goal: to support families in need during the Thanksgiving season.
The school extended its gratitude to everyone who contributed food items, helping ensure that students and their families received meaningful support. These donations played a crucial role in making the project a success and demonstrated the strong sense of community within Atlantic City.
A significant contribution came from the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, whose members generously donated 46 turkeys. Their support greatly expanded the school’s ability to reach more families. The effort was further strengthened by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, which added 10 turkeys to the initiative.
In addition to these organizational donations, Atlantic City High School also received 20 turkeys, bringing the total number of turkeys to distribute to families to an impressive 76. Between last Friday and the day of final distribution, the school completed all 76 deliveries, ensuring that students and their families received a full Thanksgiving package.
Each delivery included a turkey accompanied by a bag of food, all of which had been donated by members of the school community and generous partners. These bags ensured families could prepare a complete holiday meal, providing comfort and support during the season of gratitude.
The initiative showcased the power of collaboration and service, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to supporting students beyond academics. By bringing together local organizations, volunteers, and donors, Atlantic City High School demonstrated what can be achieved when a community unites with purpose.
The school expressed heartfelt appreciation to every individual and group whose generosity made the Thanksgiving in a Bag initiative possible. Their collective effort helped brighten the holiday season for dozens of families and reinforced the spirit of giving that defines the Atlantic City community.
