The First Ever Mayor’s Cup was held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the historic Pop Lloyd Stadium, marking the start of what is expected to become an annual tradition in Atlantic City.
The matchup featured two of the city’s most dedicated groups of public servants, the Atlantic City Fire Department and the Atlantic City Police Department, who took to the field not in their uniforms of duty, but as competitors in a spirited game of softball.
From the opening inning, the energy on the field and in the stands was electric. Families, residents, and city officials came together to watch the friendly rivalry unfold, celebrating both departments and their service to the community.
The Atlantic City Firefighters set the tone early with strong offensive play, quickly putting runs on the board. Their determination and teamwork proved unstoppable as the game progressed.
On the other side, the Atlantic City Police Department fought hard to keep the score close, showing resilience and passion throughout the contest. Despite their efforts, the Firefighters’ momentum was too strong to overcome.
By the final inning, the outcome was clear. The Firefighters secured the inaugural Mayor’s Cup with a decisive 25–7 victory, earning bragging rights and the honor of being the first champions in the event’s history.
For the players, the game was more than a competition—it was a chance to strengthen bonds, showcase camaraderie, and give the community an exciting evening of entertainment.
Spectators cheered passionately, applauding every play and enjoying the good-natured rivalry between the city’s first responders. Many expressed pride in seeing both departments come together for an event that highlighted unity and service.
