Atlantic City Embraces World Cup Spirit

As the world's most popular sporting event captures the attention of billions, Atlantic City is embracing the excitement of the World Cup in a way that reflects the city's diversity.

From providing local youth with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to hosting community celebrations that bring residents and visitors together, Atlantic City is using the global tournament as another opportunity to showcase its commitment to welcoming and celebrating all cultures.

That commitment was on display when six Atlantic City students were selected to attend a World Cup match at MetLife Stadium. Chosen with assistance from the Atlantic City Board of Education, the students, all passionate soccer fans, were given the opportunity to witness one of the world's premier sporting events in person thanks to the New Jersey Governor's Office. The experience reflects Atlantic City's ongoing investment in its young people and its desire to expose them to opportunities that inspire, educate and broaden horizons.

Residents and visitors also gathered in Atlantic City to celebrate the tournament together during the Atlantic City Soccer Celebration, a free family-friendly event organized by the city's Multicultural Services Office, in partnership with Visit Atlantic City, the Atlantic City Sports Commission and North to Shore.

The event transformed a section of the city into a gathering place where soccer fans of all backgrounds could unite around a shared love of the game. Families enjoyed activities and entertainment while watching World Cup action on a giant screen, creating an atmosphere that mirrored the spirit of the tournament itself.

The celebration highlighted something deeper about Atlantic City. The World Cup is one of the few events capable of bringing together people from every continent, language and culture. In many ways, that mirrors the community Atlantic City strives to be every day.

Through the work of the Multicultural Services Office, the city continues to recognize and celebrate the many cultures, traditions and backgrounds that make up Atlantic City's identity. Throughout the year, residents have opportunities to participate in cultural celebrations, heritage events, educational programs and community gatherings designed to foster understanding, inclusion and unity.

The World Cup provided a natural extension of those efforts. While the excitement surrounding the World Cup may eventually fade, the values it represents are ones that Atlantic City celebrates year-round.

Because in Atlantic City, every culture has a place, every voice matters and everyone is welcome.
