Atlantic City Comes Together to Remember, Honor and Support Its Community

There are moments that remind us what makes Atlantic City such a special place, the way people come together, stand beside one another and make sure no one in the community is forgotten.

The city's 9/11 Memorial Ceremony was one of those moments.

A large crowd gathered at the Saracini-O’Neill Atlantic City 9/11 Memorial at Jackson Avenue and the Boardwalk to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Residents, families, first responders, veterans, law enforcement officers, elected officials and community members stood together in a powerful show of unity.

Mayor Marty Small, Sr. joined members of the Atlantic City Police Department and Atlantic City Fire Department, along with county and state officials, law enforcement representatives, first responders, veterans, families and residents.

For Atlantic City, coming together is about taking care of one another and supporting the people who call this city home.

Mayor Small surprised everyone in attendance with a $25,000 check presentaton to the Saracini-O'Neill Foundation from funds raised during his Inagural Gala in May. This donation is another example of that commitment. His support reflects the same community-first spirit that was on display at the memorial, a willingness to step up, give back and make sure Atlantic City residents know their community is behind them.

That spirit can be seen throughout the city. Whether it is neighbors supporting local businesses, residents coming together during difficult times, volunteers giving their time or city leaders investing in the people and neighborhoods they serve, Atlantic City continues to demonstrate the strength that comes from looking out for one another.

That is Atlantic City at its best.
