In celebration of Arbor Day, the City of Atlantic City hosted an informative event to highlight the critical role that trees play in improving urban life. Held in the City Hall Council Chambers, the event aimed to educate residents on the many benefits of trees, including their ability to improve health, mitigate climate change, beautify neighborhoods, increase property value, and reduce energy bills.
The initiative was led by Ayana Plummer and Rejoana Yesmin from the Planning & Development Department, in collaboration with the Atlantic City Shade Tree Commission. Through presentations and open discussions, participants learned how tree preservation and planting contribute to the city’s long-term sustainability and quality of life.
The event also underscored the city's continued commitment to environmental awareness and action. As part of the Arbor Day activities, the City of Atlantic City and the Shade Tree Commission partnered with community organizations to host a tree planting event on Friday, May 2, at New York Avenue School.
These efforts reflect a broader vision to foster a greener, healthier, and more resilient Atlantic City for future generations.
