In Atlantic City, Mayor Marty Small, Sr. has made caring for senior residents a responsibility. Through year-round programming, social events, wellness initiatives, educational classes, and regional trips, the City of Atlantic City Senior Services division ensures that residents ages 55 and older remain active and connected.
Thriving seniors = a stronger city.
These efforts culminate each year into a signature event that seniors always look forward to. Formerly known as the Senior Gala, this year the event was repurposed as the Friendship & Love Valentine’s Ball, held the night before Valentine’s Day. What better way to show Atlantic City seniors the city loves and appreciates them?!

The Grand Ballroom at the historic Claridge Hotel glowed with lovely décor, as guests arrived dressed to impress in shades of red and pink. Hundreds of seniors gathered under one roof to dine, dance, and celebrate together. Music filled the ballroom, keeping the dance floor lively throughout the night. Raffle prizes added excitement, while photo booths captured smiles that will be treasured long after the music fades. For some, the Ball offers a rare chance to dress up and enjoy a glamorous night out. For others, it’s an opportunity to reconnect with friends and feel part of something larger than themselves. That’s what Atlantic City Senior Services strives for daily.
Beyond large annual events, Atlantic City offers steady monthly programming that keeps seniors socially active and mentally stimulated. Bowling outings bring friendly competition, while Bingo remains a perennial favorite. However, Atlantic City’s commitment to seniors extends well beyond social events. Health and wellness play a central role in programming with weekly Fun & Fitness classes and a weekly Walking Club outdoors when the weather warms up.

Senior activity doesn’t even stop at city limits. Atlantic City Senior Services frequently organizes trips throughout the region, offering residents the chance to visit cultural attractions, entertainment venues, shopping destinations, and seasonal events.
Recognizing the importance of lifelong learning, Atlantic City also offers educational opportunities designed to improve everyday life, such as technology classes.

Together, these efforts create a supportive environment where seniors feel valued. It’s about ensuring residents can dance in a grand ballroom, laugh over a bingo card, stroll in the sunshine, explore new places, and master new skills.
Most importantly, it’s about building a community where no one ages alone and where every stage of life is celebrated!
