The City of Atlantic City's Senior Services brought joy, creativity, and cool refreshments to residents of Altman Terrace with a summer Paint Party designed to help seniors beat the heat and stay engaged.
Held in a welcoming community space, the event offered a chance for older adults to gather, socialize, and express themselves through art. Tables were filled with colorful supplies—paints, brushes, and canvases—inviting participants to create in a relaxed, judgment-free environment.
To keep everyone refreshed, attendees enjoyed ice-cold lemonade, a simple but thoughtful treat that added to the day’s relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. The beverage break provided much-needed relief from the summer weather while enhancing the sense of hospitality and care.
For many, it was a welcome return to a beloved hobby or the first time trying something new. Conversations sparked around the tables as neighbors admired one another’s work, shared stories, and offered kind encouragement—reminding everyone that community and creativity have no age limit.
The event also reflected the department’s ongoing commitment to wellness, recognizing that artistic activities can support emotional health, reduce stress, and foster a sense of belonging among seniors.
Staff and volunteers played an active role in making the day a success, assisting with materials, engaging in friendly conversation, and ensuring that every participant felt included and appreciated.
Events like the Paint Party are part of a broader effort by Atlantic City Senior Services to provide meaningful, accessible programs that enrich the lives of older residents and keep them active, connected, and cared for.
As one participant put it, “It’s not just about the painting—it’s about feeling like someone thought of us.” The event proved that even a few hours of art and good company can go a long way toward strengthening community spirit.
With smiles, laughter, and plenty of color, the Paint Party at Altman Terrace marked another successful moment in Atlantic City’s mission to support its vibrant senior community.
