A safe city is the foundation for a strong community. As Atlantic City continues to grow as a place to live, work, visit, and invest, the City is making strategic investments in the technology, equipment, and resources needed to protect residents and visitors.
The Atlantic City Police Department recently added Megatron, a new state-of-the-art Mobile Command Post designed to enhance emergency response and coordination during major events, critical incidents, and emergencies.
The $1.6 Million investment was funded through Atlantic City's $2 hotel occupancy fee, meaning no local taxpayer dollars were used. The new resource provides police officers and public safety partners with a dedicated mobile headquarters equipped to support real-time communication, planning, and response operations when needed.
For a destination city that welcomes millions of visitors each year, having the ability to quickly establish a command center in the field is critical. Megatron gives first responders the tools to better coordinate during large-scale events, emergencies, and situations requiring a unified response.
The Atlantic City Police Department also continues to expand its use of tools such as drones, which provide officers with real-time aerial information during emergencies and investigations, as well as a growing network of surveillance cameras that assist with monitoring activity and supporting investigations.
Infrastructure projects throughout the city are also incorporating public safety enhancements. The Atlantic Avenue Improvement Project, for example, includes additional surveillance cameras, improved lighting, and pedestrian safety upgrades that will help create a safer and more connected corridor for residents, businesses, and visitors.
These investments reflect Atlantic City's ongoing commitment to public safety as a key part of the city's future. By combining skilled first responders with innovative technology and modern infrastructure, Atlantic City is creating a safer environment for families, businesses, and visitors.
