Atlantic City Champions Small Business with Bold Initiatives
Atlantic City proudly celebrated Small Business Month this past May with a powerful lineup of programs, partnerships, and community-driven initiatives. Led by Mayor Marty Small Sr., the city put the spotlight on local entrepreneurs and reaffirmed its commitment to growing a strong, sustainable small business economy.
Mayor Small officially proclaimed May as Small Business Month in Atlantic City, setting the tone for a month packed with meaningful action. From free parking citywide on May 17 (excluding beach blocks) to increased support from the Planning & Development Department — led by Bruce Weekes and Pam Fields — the city focused on accessibility, opportunity, and growth.
The launch of the colorful Keep it Local campaign encouraged residents and visitors alike to “Shop, Eat, Explore” Atlantic City, while the Great Day Atlantic City event gave businesses a platform to shine.
Behind the scenes, the city worked on a comprehensive incentive plan to attract new businesses to key corridors like Atlantic Avenue, aiming to bring in much-needed services and boost neighborhood vibrancy.
Ongoing programs like the Small Business Academy continued to educate and empower aspiring business owners, and collaborations with Community Development Corporations (CDCs) and MBCA AC ensured resources flowed directly to those ready to build.
Atlantic City isn’t just celebrating small business — it's building a future where local entrepreneurs thrive.
